A brief introduction
Hi there!
My name is Kalpalata and I am originally from India. I lived in the US for a couple of years before moving to London last year to be with my family. I am glad to see you here!
I am a science professional with an experience that bridges both research and teaching in physics.
Over the years, I have gained around 6 years of research experience and more than 8 years of teaching experience in total. My research experience brings in a holistic combination of work across different areas like material science, nanomaterials, optics, AFM imaging, and protein biophysics.
My teaching experience includes teaching physics and mathematics at the primary and secondary school levels, as well as coaching students by demonstrating experiments to strengthen conceptual understanding, in a school environment in India. I have also guided undergraduate students in physics laboratories in the United States as a graduate teaching assistant (TA) at UGA.
Physics has always been interesting to me since it does not require rote learning if you understand the concepts well and the best way to do it is by looking at real life examples, some of which we might be encountering everyday even without knowing. I have therefor always tried to make the subject a little easier and interesting by including these examples before jumping to advanced concepts.
My physics lessons are clear, step by step, and focused on helping students understand both theory and problem-solving. I usually begin by checking what the student already knows and where support is needed, then explain concepts with simple examples and practice questions.
My approach is patient, sincere, and supportive, and I aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in physics. I believe that learning can be both effective and enjoyable when approached in the right way.
I am currently aligning my teaching approach with the UK curriculum to tailor lessons to match the student’s school content, ensuring they are well supported in their learning.Â
I offer tutoring in KS3 Physics and GCSE/O-level Physics with A-level Physics available from mid-April 2026.
Support with Primary Science may also be available on request.
Each session is of 1 hour (with no break). If needed, sessions can be extended to 1 hour 30 minutes based on mutual agreement, at the same hourly rate.
I aim to ensure my teaching style suits each student’s needs and would be happy to support 🙂
Sincerely,
Kalpalata Nag
