Hi,

I’m a passionate scientist and teacher with the aim of showing students how science is all around us. I have been teaching secondary science for a year full time and I have 1 year of tutoring experience.

I like to make my lessons centred around the students weakness and strengths and most importantly interest and try to always link what is taught to their everyday lives. I will start the lessons with a Do now Activity to recap and review and then start the exposition. I will follow the I do, We do, Check for understanding, You do structure to ensure they have fully grasped the lesson objectives they do independent work. I follow quality first teaching strategies to ensure my lessons are accessible to all learners and will use my experience of the Ark curriculum and great teacher rubric to ensure good quality lessons.

A typical lesson will start with 5 do now questions. We will then mark these and fill any gaps. We will the read the Lesson objectives and I will start with an exposition. After that we will do a task to Check for understanding and this will be the time where we cover any misconceptions and misunderstanding, mini whiteboard or Multiple choice questions. The last 15 min of the lesson will be independent work for the student to use all the skills and knowledge covered and this will give me data for the next lesson. Depending on the topic and year group, the independent work will be linked to reel life scenarios or exam questions.

I have a strong background in biology due to my biomedical science degree and solid understanding of chemistry and physics.

I have experience teaching AQA and Edexcel science. Due to my strong background in Biology I can also tutor A-level biology.
