I am an experienced teacher and specialist tutor with almost 20 years working in education, supporting students across Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Health & Social Care. I hold a degree from Durham University and a Masters in Teaching and Learning, combining strong subject knowledge with a deep understanding of how students learn most effectively.

My career has spanned classroom teaching, middle leadership and whole-cohort academic support, including a senior role as Director of Learning within a secondary school. Alongside teaching, I have worked as an examiner and now teach within an online school as well as providing one-to-one tuition.

This range of experience means I understand education from every angle — how subjects are taught in school, how students actually learn, and most importantly, how their work is assessed. I don’t just know the content; I know precisely what examiners are looking for and why students lose marks.

My tutoring focuses heavily on exam preparation and exam technique. Many students revise extensively but still struggle to achieve their target grades because they have not been shown how to apply knowledge effectively in assessments. I teach students how to structure answers, use specialist terminology accurately, interpret command words and meet assessment criteria with precision. As confidence grows, so does performance.

Every session is structured, purposeful and tailored to the student’s needs, whether they require support building foundational understanding or refining high-level responses for top grades. My aim is always the same — to give students the skills, knowledge and strategy needed to succeed independently in exams and coursework assessments.
