A brief introduction

Hi, my name is Lucy Gentry and I’m a 21-year-old tutor currently in my second year at the University of East Anglia, studying Sociology and currently achieving a 2:1. I previously studied at Hills Road Sixth Form College, where I completed A-Levels in Government & Politics, Sociology, and English Language, giving me a strong academic foundation across the humanities and social sciences.

I tutor A-Level Politics, Sociology, and English Language, as well as GCSE English Literature and Language, Sociology, Religious Studies, and Drama. Alongside my academic background, I have hands-on experience in Drama both at GCSE level and through extracurricular performance, including appearing in the TV series Grantchester. This allows me to support Drama students with both written analysis and performance confidence.

As a tutor, I am supportive, engaging, and patient, and I prioritise building students’ confidence alongside their academic skills. I tailor sessions to each student’s learning style, breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps and focusing strongly on essay structure, exam technique, and subject understanding. I aim to create a relaxed but focused learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and motivated to improve.
